My Belkin VideoBus II does not function with the V1 Home Edition software. I can see live video displayed from my camcorder, however I receive an error when I attempt to capture video.
IMPORTANT: This question applies to Windows 98se, ME and 2000 systems ONLY. Windows XP users should use the current driver shipping with the VideoBus.
The current Belkin VideoBus II driver shipping with the VideoBus hardware for use with Windows 98se, ME and 2000 does not output video in a format that can be compressed by the V1 Home Edition software. This driver is the 2.0.2.22 release.
These instructions will help you remove the incompatible driver and replace it with the correct version (2.0.2.14).
You will need Winzip (or other ZIP file utility) to extract the driver. If you do not have a ZIP utility installed, visit http://www.winzip.com and download and install the Winzip 8.1 trial before continuing.
Next, click the link below to download the correct drivers. Please "Save this file to disk", and use a convenient location, such as your Desktop, to save the file.

Belkin VideoBus II 2.0.2.14 Driver (For Win98se/ME/2000 ONLY)

Once the file is downloaded, use Winzip to extract the contents. There should be two files inside, Belkin214.EXE and NUVclean.EXE.
HINT: If Winzip is installed on your PC, you can do this with a few simple mouse clicks by right-clicking the Belkin214.ZIP icon and selecting the "Extract to folder: C:\docume..\\desk...\Belkin214" option. This will create a folder named Belkin214 on your desktop and place both files from the ZIP inside.
Once unzipped, you must use the NUVclean.EXE utility to remove all previous Belkin drivers from the system. This step is very important, as the existing drivers must be wiped out to insure proper installation of the correct drivers. Please disconnect the Belkin Videobus from your USB port, wait at least 15 seconds for Windows to confirm the device has been removed, then double click the NUVclean.EXE icon to start cleaning. The program runs without any dialog windows and takes between 10 - 45 seconds to complete. When finished, you will receive a notification that "Cleaning is complete". Please press OK to close the cleaner application.
Next, we must extract the drivers from the Belkin214.EXE file. To do this, double click the Belkin214.EXE icon and click UNZIP. The default unzip to: location is C:\Belkindrivers. If you would like to archive these in a different location, please indicate it in the Unzip to: field before pressing UNZIP. When you receive the message that 17 files unzipped successfully, press OK, then CLOSE the self extractor. The instructions will assume you are using the default location- please take this into account if you used a different folder.
Once the drivers are unzipped, restart your computer.
When rebooted, reconnect the Belkin VideoBus to your system. You will receive a "New Hardware Found" message. The system will ask you for drivers for this device. Please use the "Specify a location" option to instruct the computer to look in the folder C:\Belkindrivers. The installation will complete itself once you select this folder. You may be prompted twice with the New Hardware Found wizard, once for the Audio device, and once for the Video device. Please instruct the computer to search in the C:\Belkindrivers folder for both devices.
Once the wizard completes installation, you should be able to use the Belkin VideoBus II with the V1 Home Edition software.
