Hauppauge! WinTV Installation Assistance

Windows 98se users must install the correct drivers for the Hauppauge WinTV card in order to use it with the V1 Professional Software.

This document is intended for Windows 98se users ONLY.

The Hauppauge! WinTV card is compatible with V1 only when using the driver below. If you have been experiencing problems using your Hauppauge! card to capture video, please use the directions below to remove your current driver and install the correct one.

First, download the Hauppauge! driver cleaning application and correct driver using the links below. Please save both files to the desktop.

Hauppauge! Driver cleaning application
ftp://v1home.com/Web%20Support%20Items/Hauppauge/hcwclear.exe (72Kb)

Hauppauge! WinTV 2.3 driver
ftp://v1home.com/Web%20Support%20Items/Hauppauge/wtvdr23.exe (1.80Mb)

Once the files are downloaded, you must use the hcwclear.exe application to remove the previous drivers from the system. The hcwclear.exe application will restart your computer when it is finished, so save anything you may have been working on before running the cleaner. When it is finished, the cleaning program will reboot your computer.

When your computer reboots, you will receive a "New Hardware Found" wizard, as the computer searches for the drivers for the device. Please CANCEL the driver installation and return to the desktop.

Once you are at the desktop, please run the wtvdr23.exe application to install the drivers. The installation directions are included in the installer program, please follow these directions carefully. When the installation process is complete, the computer will need to be restarted. Upon restart, the driver program will display two confirmation messages- please read them through, as they will let you know if everything installed correctly (ie. no hardware conflicts), and if you are using a compatible display adapter (ie. your display adapter supports hardware commands used by the Hauppauge WinTV card).
